The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Surrey focus on four skill areas: Arabic reading fluency using diacritical marks (Ḥarakāt), Arabic writing with correct letter connections, Arabic listening comprehension for Quranic recitation and conversational speech, and Arabic speaking with proper pronunciation of emphatic letters. Students practice Arabic grammar rules, vocabulary retention, and sentence formation through live instructor-led sessions.
Lessons include Arabic morphology (Ṣarf), Arabic syntax (Naḥw), root-pattern word derivation, and the grammatical framework needed for Tafsir comprehension. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors teach Arabic letter articulation points (Makharij), vowel placement, and the distinction between similar sounds English speakers often confuse—like ض (Ḍād) versus ظ (Ẓāʾ), or ت (Tāʾ) versus ط (Ṭāʾ).
The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum separates Arabic phonetics, Arabic grammar, and Arabic vocabulary into focused modules. Each builds on the previous one without rushing foundational skills.
Students drill the twenty-eight Arabic letters with attention to throat letters (ع, ح, ه, خ, غ), tongue letters (ل, ن, ر), and lip letters (ب, م, و, ف). The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors correct Makharij errors early—most English speakers pronounce ق (Qāf) like ك (Kāf) for months until the distinction is reinforced through repetition.
Lessons cover Arabic verb forms (past, present, imperative), noun cases (nominative, accusative, genitive), and gender agreement. Students learn how Arabic sentence structure differs from English—verb-first patterns, pronoun suffixes, and the role of definite articles. The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum applies grammar rules directly to Quranic verses so students see how Classical Arabic syntax governs meaning and Tafsir interpretation.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Surrey teach vocabulary for workplace communication, community organizing, and interfaith dialogue. Students expand their Arabic lexicon beyond religious terminology into civic, medical, legal, and business contexts—useful for Surrey residents working in education, healthcare, or social services where Arabic-speaking newcomers need linguistically accessible support.
Students practice cursive Arabic script, connecting letters correctly in initial, medial, and final positions. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors assign daily writing drills copying Quranic verses, composing simple sentences, and transcribing spoken Arabic into written form. Most adults struggle with ش (Shīn) versus س (Sīn) spacing. Repetition fixes it.
Outcomes
Adults leave the program reading Quranic Arabic with vowel markings (Fatḥah, Kasrah, Ḍammah) and recognizing root patterns across verb conjugations. They no longer need English translations mid-verse. The Canadian Quran Academy's reading drills build automaticity students decode Arabic script faster than they translate it mentally, which accelerates Tafsir comprehension and Islamic studies progression.
Students speak Modern Standard Arabic in professional settings mosque committees, interfaith panels, refugee resettlement meetings. The Canadian Quran Academy's conversational Arabic lessons slow down the hesitation most adults experience when switching from English to Arabic mid-sentence. Confidence comes from repetition, not talent. Students practice until the pause disappears.
Students apply Classical Arabic grammar to understand why word order changes meaning, how verb forms indicate tense and voice, and why pronoun suffixes alter sentence structure. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quranic Arabic grammar instruction connects Naḥw rules directly to verses students already know—grammatical accuracy stops being abstract and starts explaining why certain Tafsir interpretations depend on case endings.
Listening comprehension develops slower than reading for most Montreal students because Arabic speakers often drop short vowels in rapid speech. The Canadian Quran Academy's Arabic classes in Montreal expose students to varied speaking speeds, regional accents, and colloquial expressions. Instructors gradually increase audio speed as Montreal students' comprehension stabilizes across different Arabic dialects.
Students train their ears to distinguish Arabic phonemes, follow spoken Classical Arabic in religious lectures, and understand Quranic recitation without subtitles. The Canadian Quran Academy's listening drills use varied reciters—different speeds, regional accents, Tajweed styles. English speakers often confuse ذ (Dhāl) and ز (Zāy) audibly before they confuse them visually. Listening training addresses that gap.
Young learners acquire Arabic vocabulary, phonetic accuracy, and grammatical intuition that accelerates Quran memorization and Tafsir study later. The Canadian Quran Academy's youth Arabic classes teach linguistic building blocks—students learn Arabic as a language system, not just a recitation tool. That distinction matters when they encounter unfamiliar Quranic vocabulary or complex grammatical constructions during Hifz.

Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
