The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes in Surrey meet students where they are: absolute beginners learn Arabic letter recognition, intermediate students correct long-held Tajweed errors, and advanced learners refine Hifz retention strategies for long Surahs like Al-Baqarah and Āl ʿImrān.

The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes in Surrey focus on four core areas: Quran reading accuracy using Tajweed rules, Quranic recitation with proper Makharij and elongation (Madd), Quran memorization through proven Hifz techniques, and Quranic Arabic comprehension for Tafsir understanding. Students practice daily with tutors who correct pronunciation errors in real time and assign verses for independent review between sessions.
Lessons include Noorani Qaida for beginners, Tajweed rule application for letters with distinct articulation points, Qalqalah (bouncing sound) for ق, ب, د, ط, ج, and rhythm training for recitation pace. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors teach why ض (Ḍād) and ظ (Ẓāʾ) sound identical to English speakers—and how to produce them correctly through tongue placement and airflow control.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum separates Quran reading mechanics, Tajweed rule mastery, and Hifz strategy into progressive modules. Each skill builds without skipping foundational steps students need for long-term retention.
Students start with the Arabic alphabet—recognizing letter shapes in isolated, initial, medial, and final forms. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors drill vowel marks (Fatḥah, Kasrah, Ḍammah, Sukūn) until students read simple words without hesitation. Most adults confuse ت (Tāʾ) and ث (Thāʾ) visually before they confuse them phonetically. Repetition fixes both.
Lessons cover Idghām (merging), Ikhfāʾ (concealing), Iqlāb (conversion), and Iẓhār (clarity) as they appear in actual Quranic text—not as abstract rules. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes in Surrey teach Tajweed through verses students already know, like Sūrat Al-Fātiḥah or the last ten Surahs. Students hear the rule in context before they memorize its name.
Students learn line-by-line repetition, verse connection strategies, and daily review schedules that prevent forgetting. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Hifz methods address the reality that adults memorize differently than children—they need meaning attached to sound, not just sound repetition. Tafsir context helps memory stick when pure repetition doesn’t.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes in Surrey integrate basic Classical Arabic grammar—verb forms, noun cases, pronoun suffixes—directly into recitation practice. Students learn how Arabic word order affects meaning, why certain letters change pronunciation mid-verse due to grammatical rules, and how to parse unfamiliar vocabulary using root-pattern recognition during independent Quran reading.
Outcomes
Adults finish the program reading Arabic script directly—no Roman letters underneath, no phonetic crutches. The Canadian Quran Academy's reading drills build automaticity. Students recognize letter combinations, vowel patterns, and Tajweed markers faster than they process transliteration. That shift happens around month four for most learners. Confidence follows capability.
Students articulate throat letters (ع, ح, ه, خ, غ), distinguish between emphatic and non-emphatic pairs (ص/س, ط/ت, ض/د, ظ/ذ), and apply elongation rules without pausing mid-verse. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes in Surrey correct the most common error English speakers make—pronouncing ق (Qāf) like ك (Kāf). The difference is subtle. The correction takes weeks, not days.
Students memorize complete Surahs—starting with shorter ones like Al-Mulk and progressing to longer portions from Juzʾ ʿAmma or Juzʾ Tabārak. The Canadian Quran Academy's Hifz strategy includes spaced repetition, daily review quotas, and weekly consolidation sessions. Most students retain memorized verses when they review consistently. Forgetting happens when review stops, not when memorization was "weak" initially.
Students understand basic Quranic vocabulary, recognize common verb patterns, and parse sentence structure well enough to follow Tafsir explanations in English or Arabic. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes in Surrey teach enough Classical Arabic grammar to make Tafsir accessible—students stop relying entirely on translation and start engaging with the original Arabic text's linguistic layers.
The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes in Surrey run on flexible schedules—early mornings before work, afternoons after school, evenings for professionals. Students book sessions that match their availability without sacrificing instruction quality. Surrey parents juggling multiple children's activities appreciate tutors who accommodate rescheduling when conflicts arise.
Students recite confidently during family gatherings, Taraweeh prayers, and community events. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes in Surrey prepare students for public recitation by addressing the anxiety most adults feel when reciting aloud. Mistakes happen. The goal is accurate recitation despite nervousness, not perfect performance under pressure.

The Canadian Quran Academy's graduates lead Taraweeh prayers, complete Hifz milestones, teach Quran classes in their communities, and pursue Islamic studies programs across Canada and internationally.
Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
