The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes for kids in Surrey teach children aged 5-15 Quran reading proficiency, Tajweed-compliant recitation, Noorani Qaida mastery, and foundational Islamic knowledge through age-appropriate online lessons with patient, qualified tutors. Kids learn Arabic letter recognition, proper Makharij articulation for sounds like ع (ʿAyn), ح (Ḥāʾ), and ق (Qāf), and basic Tajweed rules through interactive drills and gentle repetition.
Surrey kids growing up bilingual—switching between English at school and Punjabi, Urdu, or Arabic at home—often struggle with Arabic phonetics because their mouths haven’t trained for throat letters. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes for kids in Surrey address this early. Children practice letter sounds daily until pronunciation becomes automatic, building muscle memory before grammar rules overwhelm them. Early mastery prevents frustration later.

The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes for kids in Surrey focus on four skills: Quran reading accuracy using Arabic script, Tajweed-compliant recitation with correct pronunciation, Noorani Qaida progression from letters to words, and basic Islamic knowledge including short Surahs, daily Du’as, and simple Fiqh concepts. Kids practice with tutors who correct mistakes gently and celebrate small wins—reading one full line, pronouncing ر (Rāʾ) correctly, memorizing Sūrat Al-Fātiḥah.
Lessons include Arabic alphabet drills (isolated, initial, medial, final forms), vowel mark recognition (Fatḥah, Kasrah, Ḍammah, Sukūn), Tajweed fundamentals like Qalqalah and elongation (Madd), and age-appropriate Seerah stories. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors understand that kids lose focus after twenty minutes—sessions include movement breaks, visual aids, and varied activities to keep young learners engaged without sacrificing instruction quality.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum separates letter recognition, pronunciation training, Tajweed basics, and memorization into progressive stages. Each builds slowly to match children’s developmental pace.
Kids start with single Arabic letters—recognizing shapes, tracing forms, and pronouncing sounds correctly. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes for kids in Surrey drill each letter until children produce it without hesitation. Most Surrey kids confuse ت (Tāʾ) and ث (Thāʾ) for weeks. That’s normal. Visual similarity doesn’t mean phonetic difficulty—repetition fixes confusion faster than explanation at this age.
Lessons introduce Tajweed rules gradually—kids learn Qalqalah (bouncing sound for ق, ب, د, ط, ج) by hearing it first, then naming it later. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors avoid overwhelming children with rule lists. Instead, kids imitate proper recitation until the sound feels natural. Rule names come after muscle memory forms. That sequence prevents the confusion most Quran classes create by teaching theory before practice.
Children memorize short Surahs from Juzʾ ʿAmma—starting with Al-Fātiḥah, Al-Ikhlāṣ, Al-Falaq, and An-Nās. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes for kids in Surrey use repetition-based Hifz methods: kids recite one line ten times, connect it to the next, then review both together. Surrey parents notice retention improves when kids understand basic meanings alongside memorization. Context helps memory stick.
Kids learn Du’as for sleeping, eating, entering the bathroom, and leaving home—practical supplications they use daily. The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum includes age-appropriate Seerah lessons (the Prophet’s kindness, honesty, bravery) and simple Fiqh (how to make Wudu, why Muslims pray five times). Surrey kids raised in secular schools need Islamic literacy alongside Quran reading. Both matter equally.
Outcomes
Kids finish Noorani Qaida reading Arabic text directly—no English phonetics underneath. The Canadian Quran Academy's reading drills train children to recognize letter combinations and vowel patterns automatically. Most Surrey kids reach this milestone within six to nine months. Reading speed increases after that. Accuracy comes first. Speed follows naturally when foundations are solid.
Kids articulate throat letters (ع, ح, ه, خ, غ), distinguish ر (Rāʾ) from ل (Lām), and produce emphatic letters (ص, ط, ض, ظ) correctly. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes for kids in Surrey address pronunciation errors early—before incorrect habits solidify. Children's mouths adapt faster than adults'. Correcting a seven-year-old's ق (Qāf) takes two weeks. Correcting a thirty-year-old's takes two months.
Children memorize the last ten Surahs, selected Du'as, and portions from Juzʾ Tabārak depending on age and ability. The Canadian Quran Academy's Hifz techniques for kids emphasize daily review—five minutes of new memorization, ten minutes reviewing previous portions. Surrey parents often worry their kids forget verses quickly. Forgetting is normal. Review rebuilds retention. Consistency matters more than speed.
Kids recite during family gatherings, lead short portions of Salah at home, and participate in mosque programs without anxiety. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes for kids in Surrey prepare children for public recitation by normalizing mistakes during lessons. Tutors create low-pressure environments where kids feel safe trying, failing, and trying again. Confidence grows through practice, not praise alone.
Children know why Muslims fast during Ramadan, how to perform Wudu correctly, and basic stories from the Prophet's life. The Canadian Quran Academy's Islamic knowledge lessons give Surrey kids context for their religious identity—especially important for children navigating questions from non-Muslim classmates. Kids explain their faith better when they understand it first.
Parents notice improved concentration, better routine adherence, and increased respect for structured learning. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes for kids in Surrey teach discipline indirectly—children learn to sit still, listen carefully, and complete tasks even when distracted. These skills transfer beyond Quran study. Surrey parents value academic benefits alongside religious education.

Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
