The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Montreal follow a progression from alphabet recognition to full sentence construction. Students practice Arabic letter formation, learn vowel markings (fatḥah, kasrah, ḍammah), study vocabulary grouped by everyday themes, and apply Arabic grammar rules through guided Arabic conversation. Live Arabic instructors correct pronunciation errors immediately, preventing fossilized mistakes.
Our Arabic classes address specific challenges Montreal students face: distinguishing between ص (Ṣād) and س (Sīn), mastering emphatic consonants, and building confidence in Arabic speaking before Arabic reading fluency arrives. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Montreal don’t rush grammar theory—students hear patterns repeatedly before naming them formally.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Montreal follow a structured sequence where each lesson builds on confirmed student readiness, not arbitrary timelines.
Arabic letters change shape depending on their position in words, initial, medial, final, or isolated. Students learn these variations through repeated writing drills, tracing exercises, and dictation practice. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Montreal teach letter connection rules explicitly: which letters connect forward, which refuse connection, and how vowel markings shift meaning entirely.
English speakers learning Arabic typically substitute familiar sounds for unfamiliar ones, pronouncing ق (Qāf) as “k” or ط (Ṭāʾ) as “t.” The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors demonstrate correct tongue placement, airflow control, and throat articulation through live video sessions. Students repeat sounds until they match the instructor’s model, recording themselves for self-assessment between Montreal Arabic classes.
Students learn Arabic nouns, verbs, and adjectives grouped by practical categories: family terms, food vocabulary, time expressions, and location descriptions. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Montreal teach word roots—how three-letter patterns generate related meanings across verb forms. This system accelerates vocabulary retention better than memorizing isolated words without grammatical context.
Basic Arabic grammar differs sharply from English: verbs precede subjects, adjectives follow nouns, and gender agreement affects every sentence. Students practice constructing Arabic sentences describing Montreal situations—asking directions, discussing weather, ordering meals. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic classes in Montreal drill verb conjugations through conversation, not abstract grammar tables, letting students internalize patterns before formal explanations.
Outcomes
Arabic assigns gender to all nouns, affecting verb forms, adjectives, and pronouns. Students learn to match these elements correctly through repetitive speaking drills. The Canadian Quran Academy's Arabic classes in Montreal correct gender errors immediately during conversation practice, preventing incorrect patterns from solidifying before Montreal students develop automatic accuracy.
Sounds like ع (ʿAyn), ح (Ḥāʾ), and ق (Qāf) don't exist in English, forcing Montreal students to develop new articulatory habits. The Canadian Quran Academy's instructors use audio comparison, mouth positioning diagrams, and immediate feedback during Arabic pronunciation drills. Montreal students typically differentiate these sounds consistently after three months of focused practice.
Students move beyond memorized phrases to generating original Arabic sentences using learned grammar patterns. The Canadian Quran Academy's Arabic classes in Montreal structure conversation practice around increasingly complex scenarios—describing past events, expressing future plans, stating preferences. Montreal students practice thinking in Arabic rather than translating mentally from English.
Listening comprehension develops slower than reading for most Montreal students because Arabic speakers often drop short vowels in rapid speech. The Canadian Quran Academy's Arabic classes in Montreal expose students to varied speaking speeds, regional accents, and colloquial expressions. Instructors gradually increase audio speed as Montreal students' comprehension stabilizes across different Arabic dialects.
Arabic cursive writing demands consistent letter proportions, proper dot placement, and smooth connections between letters. The Canadian Quran Academy's Arabic classes in Montreal assign daily writing exercises—copying sentences, taking dictation, composing short paragraphs. Montreal students develop handwriting legibility sufficient for note-taking and correspondence within four months of consistent practice.
Students progress from fully vowelled texts to unvowelled Arabic passages by recognizing word patterns and root letters. The Canadian Quran Academy's Arabic classes in Montreal build this skill through graduated reading materials—beginning with children's stories, advancing to news headlines, finishing with classical texts. Most Montreal students reach basic unvowelled reading within six months.

Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
