The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic Course for Beginners in Canada teaches letter shapes, vowel sounds, and word formation through systematic daily exercises. Students practice Arabic writing by tracing letters, combining consonants with short vowels, and constructing simple nouns and verbs. Lessons include Arabic listening exercises where instructors pronounce words for students to repeat and recognize aurally.
Beginner Arabic speaking practice begins immediately—students pronounce each letter correctly, practice common greetings, and form basic questions. The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors correct pronunciation errors during live sessions, addressing issues like confusing ḥāʾ (ح) with hāʾ (ه) or mixing up ṣād (ص) and sīn (س) that English speakers commonly struggle with initially.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s Arabic Course for Beginners follows a building-block approach—alphabet mastery first, then vowel combination, then word recognition, finally sentence construction across twelve structured weeks.
Beginners practice recognizing all twenty-eight Arabic letters in isolated, initial, medial, and final positions—e.g., bāʾ (ب) changes shape depending on position. The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors drill these variations daily until recognition becomes automatic, ensuring students can identify letters quickly without conscious effort.
Beginners learn short vowels—fatḥah (“a”), ḍammah (“u”), kasrah (“i”)—appearing as diacritical marks above or below letters. The Canadian Quran Academy teaches correct pronunciation, emphasizing that misreading vowels changes meaning. Lessons progress from fully vocalized texts to partially marked materials, reinforcing accurate vowel recognition for proper Arabic reading.
Beginners learn Arabic root-and-pattern word formation, practicing three-letter roots like k-t-b to create related words—kataba (he wrote), kitāb (book), maktab (office). The Canadian Quran Academy’s training shows how vowels generate nouns, verbs, and adjectives, accelerating vocabulary acquisition and understanding of semantic connections across related words.
Beginners practice forming Arabic sentences, which often follow verb-subject-object order or subject-predicate for noun-based sentences. The Canadian Quran Academy guides exercises in present-tense statements, basic questions, and negatives, including translation both ways—English to Arabic and vice versa—to reinforce grammatical patterns through repetition and structured practice.
Outcomes
Students develop automatic letter recognition across all four positional forms without conscious effort. Most beginners accomplish this within four to six weeks of daily practice. Canadian students then read simple Arabic texts independently—children's books, beginner prayer guides, and basic Quranic vocabulary lists—without instructor assistance during personal study time.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s phonetic training teaches beginners to pronounce sounds absent in English—emphatic letters like ṣād (ص) and ḍād (ض), guttural letters like ʿayn (ع) and ghayn (غ), and the glottal hamzah (ء). Students record and compare readings with instructor models, refining articulation to achieve clear, native-like distinction between similar letters.
Students learn to write Arabic script from right to left with proper letter connections and proportions. Initial writing appears slow and disconnected. Within eight weeks, Canadian beginners write simple sentences fluidly for note-taking during Islamic lectures, labeling Quranic study materials, or corresponding with Arabic-learning peers through messaging applications.
The Canadian Quran Academy introduces 300 high-frequency Arabic words found in Quranic verses and Islamic texts. Beginners use spaced repetition—daily, weekly, monthly—to memorize vocabulary. Toronto students, Vancouver parents, and Montreal community members develop immediate recognition, enabling comprehension of Quranic texts, teaching Islamic concepts, and following Arabic khutbahs effectively.
Students learn to distinguish Arabic sounds in connected speech, not just isolated letters. The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors speak simple sentences at natural speed, guiding beginners to identify individual words. This skill enables Canadian Muslims to understand Arabic lectures, follow Quranic recitation, and engage in basic conversations at community gatherings.
Students practice speaking simple Arabic—introducing themselves, asking questions, and expressing basic needs. The Canadian Quran Academy’s live sessions encourage verbal participation, helping beginners overcome hesitation. Calgary Muslims, Edmonton parents, and Ottawa professionals apply this foundational speaking skill immediately when greeting, conversing at home, or networking with Arabic speakers.
Why Choose us?
The Canadian Quran Academy's tutors expect beginners to require multiple exposures before mastering letters. Instructors repeat pronunciations, demonstrate writing techniques, and review vocabulary without impatience or pressure.
Morning sessions suit parents with school-age children. Evening classes serve working professionals. Weekend options accommodate students with weekday obligations. The Canadian Quran Academy maintains scheduling flexibility across all time zones.
Sessions enroll maximum six students so instructors hear each person pronounce letters individually and correct articulation errors immediately. This attention proves critical for beginners learning sounds absent from English.
Lessons introduce three to four new letters weekly rather than presenting the entire alphabet simultaneously. The Canadian Quran Academy spaces content to allow mastery before advancement, reducing beginner frustration significantly.
Scheduled sessions with homework assignments maintain steady progress compared to self-study where most beginners abandon learning within weeks. Real-time instructor availability answers questions immediately when confusion arises.
The Canadian Quran Academy prices entry-level instruction to welcome students regardless of financial circumstances. Monthly payment options prevent cost barriers from blocking access to Arabic literacy training for Canadian Muslims.
The Canadian Quran Academy provides session recordings so beginners replay pronunciation demonstrations, rewatch letter formation explanations, and review vocabulary multiple times independently. Students with demanding schedules benefit from asynchronous review options.
Weekly assessments document letter recognition accuracy, pronunciation improvement, and vocabulary retention. The Canadian Quran Academy's instructors share progress reports so beginners see concrete evidence of development rather than relying on subjective feelings.

Testimonials
The Canadian Quran Academy's beginner graduates progress to reading Quranic texts independently, conversing in basic Arabic with community members, and advancing to intermediate Arabic courses with confidence built through foundational training.
Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
