The Canadian Quran Academy offers Quran classes for kids in Calgary built around one simple standard: children leave each session knowing something they did not know before. Lessons cover Arabic letter recognition, Noorani Qaida foundations, Tajweed rule introduction, and Quran reading practice — all structured around a young learner’s natural attention span and pace.
Calgary’s Muslim families come from dozens of cultural backgrounds. Some children speak Arabic at home; most do not. The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum accounts for both realities. Kids who grow up in English-dominant homes often need more time on Arabic phonetics — and the structure here gives them exactly that without rushing toward recitation before pronunciation is solid.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes for kids in Calgary begin where every young learner should begin: with sound before symbol. Children first develop Arabic phonemic awareness — learning to hear and produce sounds like ع (ʿAyn) and ح (Ḥāʾ) that have no English equivalent — before they ever touch a Quran page. Lessons then build through Noorani Qaida, Tajweed basics, and structured Quran reading.
Once phonics are stable, kids move into connected Arabic reading — short Quranic verses read with Tajweed awareness, not mechanical decoding. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors track every child’s Arabic reading fluency individually, adjusting session pacing based on where each student consistently stumbles, not on a fixed weekly schedule.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum follows a deliberate sequence — each skill must be stable before the next is introduced. No stage is skipped.
Most Canadian children have never produced sounds like ق (Qāf) or ض (Ḍād) before starting Quran classes. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors isolate each Makhraj — the precise articulation point for every Arabic letter — and train it separately. Kids practice producing ط (Ṭāʾ) versus ت (Tāʾ) as distinct sounds, not interchangeable ones. This phoneme-level work takes weeks, and it is the reason Quran reading develops without distortion later.
Noorani Qaida is not a worksheet — it is a complete Arabic phonics ladder. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes for kids in Calgary move children through its stages in order: isolated Arabic letters, joined forms, short vowels (Harakaat), long vowels (Madd), Tanween, and then compound combinations. Each stage requires demonstrated accuracy before the next opens. A child who cannot yet distinguish Kasra from Fatha consistently does not move forward until that gap closes.
Tajweed rules are introduced the moment a child reads connected Quran text — not before, and not as a separate memorization task. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors focus first on Ghunnah nasalization and Idghaam blending, the rules children encounter earliest in short Surahs. Calgary kids learn to apply these rules inside actual Quran recitation, not in isolation. The rule gets named only after the child has already heard it corrected several times in context.
Quran memorization at this stage is Surah-based and phonetically disciplined. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors guide kids through Juz Amma using call-and-repeat, gap-repetition, and line-by-line retention checks. Children do not advance to the next Ayah until the previous one is recited correctly from memory, with Tajweed intact. For Calgary kids just beginning Hifz, this careful pace builds a strong memorization habit — one that scales into longer Surahs without the backsliding that rushed programs produce.
Outcomes
Children identify every Arabic letter in its isolated, initial, medial, and final positions — a skill that is harder than it sounds. Arabic letters change shape depending on where they sit in a word. Kids leaving The Canadian Quran Academy's program read connected Arabic script without confusing letter forms, which is the first real threshold of Quran reading independence.
By the time kids complete the foundational level, they recite short Surahs from Juz Amma with correct Tajweed application — Ghunnah, Madd lengths, and Qalqalah included. The Canadian Quran Academy's tutors verify this through live recitation sessions, not written tests. What Calgary kids take away is a recitation habit they can sustain independently at home.
Distinguishing ص (Ṣād) from س (Sīn), or ط (Ṭāʾ) from ت (Tāʾ), is not automatic for English-speaking children. The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes for kids in Calgary train this distinction through focused Makhraj practice until the difference is instinctive. Kids who finish this track hear and produce Arabic phonemes cleanly — a foundation that prevents Quran recitation errors from becoming permanent habits.
Finishing Noorani Qaida is a concrete milestone, not a vague progress indicator. Calgary kids who complete The Canadian Quran Academy's Qaida sequence can open any page of the Quran and decode connected Arabic text using correct vowel markings, Tanween, and Shaddah. That transition from Qaida to Mushaf is one of the clearest moments of progress a child and parent experience together.
Memorization at The Canadian Quran Academy is not a one-time recitation — it is confirmed across at least three sessions before a Surah is marked complete. Calgary kids build a Hifz foundation that holds because the retention method is spaced and cumulative. Children who go through this process do not forget what they have memorized a week later; the repetition structure is built specifically to prevent that.
Children who attend Quran classes for kids in Calgary through The Canadian Quran Academy begin recognizing Quranic Arabic vocabulary they hear in Salah. Words like Ar-Rahman, Al-Aleem, and Al-Ghafoor stop being sounds and start being meanings. This is not a formal translation course — it is a natural byproduct of recitation practice paired with tutor explanations of word roots during lessons.
Why Choose us?
The Canadian Quran Academy's tutors hold formal Ijazah certification in Quran recitation and Tajweed. Calgary families are not handing their child's Quran education to a generalist. Every tutor has been vetted for both their Islamic knowledge and their ability to teach young learners — two different skills that are both required here.
Sessions are available across morning, afternoon, and evening time slots to work around school hours, extracurriculars, and prayer times. Calgary families do not need to restructure their week to enroll. The Canadian Quran Academy's scheduling is built around the reality of busy Canadian households, not an idealized version of it.
Every child in The Canadian Quran Academy's Quran classes for kids in Calgary works directly with a tutor in a private session. There is no waiting for slower students or being rushed by faster ones. The tutor's full attention is on one child's Arabic pronunciation, Quran reading, and memorization — for the entire session.
Parents receive progress updates on their child's Quran reading level, Tajweed accuracy, and Noorani Qaida stage completion. The Canadian Quran Academy does not operate as a black box. Calgary families know exactly where their child stands — and what the next milestone looks like.
The Canadian Quran Academy's pricing for Quran classes for kids in Calgary is structured to be realistic for Canadian households. There are no hidden fees, no mandatory material purchases beyond a Quran, and no long-term contracts required at enrollment. Families pay for lessons — nothing else.
The Canadian Quran Academy offers female tutor assignments for families who prefer it. Calgary Muslim communities hold varying positions on mixed-gender instruction for children, and The Canadian Quran Academy respects those preferences without making families explain themselves.
There is no guesswork in how lessons are ordered. The Canadian Quran Academy's curriculum follows the same proven sequence — Makhraj, Qaida, Tajweed, Quran reading, memorization — regardless of which tutor a Calgary child is assigned to. Consistency across tutors means a child who switches slots or tutors does not lose ground.
Families can book a trial session before committing to a full enrollment. Calgary parents who are uncertain whether their child is ready, or simply want to see the teaching approach firsthand, can do that without obligation. The Canadian Quran Academy stands behind the quality of its first session.

Testimonials
Montreal students completing The Canadian Quran Academy's Hifz program achieve full Quran memorization, lead Taraweeh prayers, and maintain lifelong review habits supporting their Islamic knowledge and community leadership.
Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
