The Canadian Quran Academy’s Quran classes in Mississauga structure lessons around Noorani Qaida fundamentals, Tajweed application, and Quranic Arabic grammar. Students begin with Arabic letter recognition, progress through phonetic drills targeting problematic sounds like ض and ظ, then advance to connected text recitation with rule application. Each session balances theory with vocal practice.
Lessons cover Qalqalah articulation, Madd duration rules, Ghunnah nasal sounds, and Sifaat characteristics that distinguish heavy letters from light ones. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors correct pronunciation errors immediately, preventing fossilized mistakes. Students record their recitation weekly, comparing progress against baseline recordings to track improvements in rhythm, accuracy, and Tajweed consistency.
The Canadian Quran Academy sequences lessons from Arabic alphabet mastery through independent Quranic recitation, ensuring foundational gaps don’t derail advanced progress.
New students identify the seventeen Makharij points where Arabic sounds originate—throat, tongue, lips, nasal cavity. The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum isolates sounds unfamiliar to English speakers: the guttural ع versus غ, the emphatic ص versus س, the deep ق versus ك. Tutors demonstrate tongue placement using visual diagrams, then students practice each sound in isolation before combining letters into syllables.
Students memorize when Noon Sakinah transforms into Ghunnah, when to apply Idgham, when Ikhfa’ hides the sound, and when Iqlab converts pronunciation. The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors don’t just list rules—they show where each appears in actual Surahs, drill recognition through repetition, then test students’ ability to identify rules independently while reading unfamiliar verses without advance preparation.
Lessons decode frequently appearing Quranic words—Inna, Qul, Aladhina, Ma, Lam—so students recognize root patterns and understand basic meanings while reciting. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors teach word families sharing three-letter roots, helping students grasp semantic connections across verses. This builds reading comprehension alongside pronunciation, transforming rote recitation into meaningful engagement with Quranic text.
Students memorize short Surahs such as Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, applying Tajweed rules learned earlier to memorized passages. The Canadian Quran Academy’s method combines daily repetition, rhythm-based recall techniques, and recitation from memory during live sessions. Tutors correct mistakes before they become habits, ensuring memorized verses maintain proper pronunciation, rule application, and recitation pace without rushing through familiar text.
Outcomes
Students read any Surah without assistance after completing foundational training in Arabic phonetics and Tajweed mechanics. The Canadian Quran Academy's curriculum eliminates dependency on transliteration by teaching direct Arabic script recognition, proper vowel marking interpretation, and pause symbol understanding. Students transition from guided recitation to self-directed practice, reading new verses accurately on first attempts.
Students distinguish between easily confused Arabic sounds—ح versus ه, ط versus ت, خ versus ك—by practicing Makharij drills until tongue placement becomes automatic. The Canadian Quran Academy's tutors identify individual pronunciation weaknesses through diagnostic recitation, then prescribe targeted exercises addressing specific articulation errors. Students record themselves weekly, comparing recordings against tutor models to self-correct pronunciation deviations.
Students identify Qalqalah, Madd, Ghunnah, and Noon Sakinah rules while reading, applying correct duration and articulation without hesitation. The Canadian Quran Academy's method trains rule recognition through repetitive exposure across multiple Surahs, building pattern recognition that overrides conscious rule-checking. Students eventually apply Tajweed instinctively, maintaining recitation flow without pausing to recall theoretical knowledge.
Young students memorize Juz Amma Surahs using spaced repetition, rhythm-based recall, and daily review schedules tailored to children's attention spans. The Canadian Quran Academy's tutors break long Surahs into manageable segments, consolidating each section before adding new verses. Children recite memorized passages at lesson start, ensuring retention before advancing, and parents receive progress reports tracking verses memorized and retention rates.
Adult learners recognize common Quranic words—Allah, Rabb, Rahman, Nas—and understand their meanings while reciting, transforming mechanical pronunciation into comprehension-based reading. The Canadian Quran Academy's lessons introduce high-frequency vocabulary gradually, connecting words to root meanings and showing usage patterns across different verses. Students build mental dictionaries that enhance engagement with Quranic content beyond surface-level recitation.
Students recite Al-Fatiha and other Salah Surahs with correct Tajweed, proper pacing, and confident pronunciation during prayer. The Canadian Quran Academy's curriculum prioritizes Surahs used daily in worship, ensuring practical application of learned skills. Students practice reciting at prayer-appropriate speeds—neither rushed nor excessively slow—developing muscle memory that transfers directly from lessons to daily prayers without conscious effort.

Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
