The Canadian Quran Academy’s course to learn Quran for beginners in Canada covers Noorani Qaida mastery, Arabic letter shapes and sounds, Tajweed rule application, and short Surah recitation. Beginners practice Makharij drills for letters like ع (ʿAyn), ح (Ḥāʾ), and ق (Qāf), then apply those sounds inside actual Quranic verses. Theory never sits alone—it pairs with recitation.
Instructors teach vowel markers (Fatha, Kasra, Damma) before introducing Sukoon and Shadda. Beginners learn when to lengthen sounds and when to stop. They recite Surah Al-Fatiha slowly, stopping at each rule, then gradually smooth the flow. Mistakes get corrected immediately, not later when habits have hardened into reflexes.
The Canadian Quran Academy arranges lessons sequentially. Beginners do not skip ahead. Each stage builds on the previous one, ensuring no foundational gap.
Beginners trace each Arabic letter’s shape and pronounce it correctly before moving forward. The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors drill letters with similar forms—ب (Bāʾ), ت (Tāʾ), ث (Thāʾ)—until students distinguish them by sight and sound. Adult learners struggle most with throat letters because English lacks equivalents. Lessons isolate ع and ح, repeating them until muscle memory takes over.
After mastering letter sounds, beginners learn Qalqalah, Madd, and Ghunnah rules inside short Surahs. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors do not lecture theory for weeks before practice. Students recite Surah Al-Ikhlas while applying the rule, stumble, get corrected, then try again. Rule application happens during recitation, not as abstract homework. Canadian students appreciate this directness—it respects their time.
Canadian beginners learn Quran reading and proper recitation together through structured guidance and gradual independence. Students begin with short Surahs, practice with instructors, then recite independently for verification. Tutors provide focused corrections in pronunciation and Tajweed, allowing fluency to develop naturally without separating reading skills from recitation training.
Once beginners become comfortable with accurate recitation, they begin memorizing short Surahs step by step. The Canadian Quran Academy focuses on familiar chapters, repetition, and regular review. Instructors divide verses into small sections, ensuring correct pronunciation while building confidence and steady memorization skills over time.
Outcomes
Beginners exit the course pronouncing ض (Ḍād), ظ (Ẓāʾ), and ط (Ṭāʾ) correctly—letters English speakers confuse for months. The Canadian Quran Academy's instructors isolate each Makhraj point, demonstrate it, then listen as students replicate the sound. This skill prevents mispronunciation habits that take years to unlearn later.
Students recite Surah Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas following Madd, Qalqalah, and Ghunnah rules without constant prompting. Errors still occur, but they decrease steadily. Canadian learners value this practical skill because it allows them to lead family prayers or participate in Taraweeh confidently, knowing their recitation meets Tajweed standards.
After completing Noorani Qaida lessons, beginners open any Mushaf and read unfamiliar verses slowly but correctly. The Canadian Quran Academy's curriculum ensures students recognize vowel markers, elongation signs, and stopping points. Speed is secondary—accuracy comes first. This independence is the difference between memorizing sounds and actually reading Arabic script.
Students grasp why certain letters require nasal sounds, why some vowels lengthen, and when to pause. The Canadian Quran Academy's tutors explain rules when students encounter them during recitation, not in isolated theory sessions. This contextual learning sticks because it answers questions students are already asking internally as they stumble over unfamiliar sounds.
Consistency matters more than intensity. Beginners in The Canadian Quran Academy's program practice fifteen minutes daily rather than cramming one hour weekly. Instructors assign manageable portions, check progress in the next session, then adjust assignments based on accuracy. This rhythm prevents burnout and builds sustainable habits Canadian students maintain after the course ends.
Some beginners stop after mastering basic recitation. Others continue into Hifz or Tafsir programs. The Canadian Quran Academy's course prepares both paths. Students leave with pronunciation accuracy, rule awareness, and independent reading skills—enough to either maintain their current level or advance further. Either choice is valid, and the foundation supports both.

Testimonials
Canadian graduates of The Canadian Quran Academy's beginner program now lead prayers, teach their children, and continue advanced Islamic studies.
Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
