The Canadian Quran Academy’s Tajweed course for kids in Canada begins with Arabic pronunciation foundations—children learn Makharij for throat letters like ح (Ḥāʾ), ع (ʿAyn), خ (Khāʾ) through imitation before rule terminology. Lessons introduce one Tajweed category at a time—first Ghunnah with Noon Sakinah, then Qalqalah letters, then simple Madd types—applying each during familiar Surah recitation rather than abstract examples disconnected from verses kids already know.
Kids progress through Tajweed rules incrementally matched to elementary cognitive development—distinguishing heavy letters from light equivalents, applying correct Ghunnah nasal length, producing Qalqalah bouncing sounds on ق (Qāf), ط (Ṭāʾ), ب (Bāʾ), ج (Jīm), د (Dāl). The Canadian Quran Academy’s Tajweed course for kids in Canada addresses common Canadian children’s errors—pronouncing Arabic sounds like English equivalents—through repetition drills with instructors during video sessions.
The Canadian Quran Academy builds Tajweed mastery through sound imitation first, then rule naming—reversing the sequence that causes most kids to quit.
Children watch instructors demonstrate throat letter pronunciation through close-up video angles—imitating ح (Ḥāʾ), ع (ʿAyn), خ (Khāʾ) sounds through repeated speaking practice before learning articulation point names. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Tajweed course for kids in Canada follows natural language acquisition—children produce correct sounds first, terminology comes later when cognitive development supports abstract classification systems.
Kids apply Ghunnah nasal sound with Noon Sakinah and Tanween by holding two counts—practicing on verses from Juz Amma they already recite regularly. The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors use counting games and audio comparisons ensuring children maintain consistent Ghunnah length during recitation, not shortened pronunciation that omits the rule or extended duration sounding unnatural.
Children learn to produce bouncing sound on ق (Qāf), ط (Ṭāʾ), ب (Bāʾ), ج (Jīm), د (Dāl) when these letters carry Sukoon—practicing during actual Quran reading through video sessions. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Tajweed course for kids in Canada demonstrates correct Qalqalah intensity through audio examples, preventing Canadian kids from either omitting the emphasis entirely or exaggerating it unnaturally.
Canadian children learn to apply heaviness (Tafkheem) to emphatic letters—ص (Ṣād), ض (Ḍād), ط (Ṭāʾ), ظ (Ẓāʾ)—while maintaining lightness (Tarqeeq) for س (Sīn), د (Dāl), ت (Tāʾ), ذ (Dhāl). The Canadian Quran Academy’s instructors correct the common mistake Canadian kids make—pronouncing all Arabic letters with uniform English-influenced lightness—through comparative pronunciation exercises during video lessons.
Outcomes
Most Canadian children mispronounce Arabic throat letters by substituting English sounds, turning ح into “h,” ق into “k,” or omitting ع. Through guided video imitation and real-time correction, students learn correct articulation points early, allowing the academy’s kids Tajweed course to fix errors in elementary years before they become deeply rooted habits.
Kids graduate maintaining proper Ghunnah length—holding nasal sound for two counts with Noon Sakinah and Tanween—during normal reading pace without counting aloud. The Canadian Quran Academy's instructors drill Ghunnah through repeated verse recitation until application becomes automatic, eliminating shortened pronunciation that omits the rule or pauses interrupting reading fluency.
Canadian children produce proper Qalqalah bouncing sound on ق (Qāf), ط (Ṭāʾ), ب (Bāʾ), ج (Jīm), د (Dāl) when these letters carry Sukoon—neither overstating the bounce nor skipping it entirely. The Canadian Quran Academy's Tajweed course for kids in Canada demonstrates age-appropriate Qalqalah intensity, preventing children from applying exaggerated emphasis sounding theatrical during Quranic recitation.
Children apply heaviness (Tafkheem) to emphatic letters—ص (Ṣād), ض (Ḍād), ط (Ṭāʾ), ظ (Ẓāʾ)—while maintaining lightness (Tarqeeq) for equivalent sounds. The Canadian Quran Academy's instructors correct Canadian kids' tendency to pronounce all Arabic letters with English-influenced uniform lightness, ensuring children distinguish heavy versus light characteristics affecting Quranic recitation meaning and validity.
Canadian children establish correct Tajweed habits during elementary school when pronunciation patterns remain flexible and responsive to instructor correction. The Canadian Quran Academy's Tajweed course for kids in Canada addresses errors during ages seven through twelve—before teenage self-consciousness makes students resistant to repeated pronunciation correction or embarrassed about making mistakes during recitation.
Kids practice reciting with Tajweed accuracy under observation with instructors who correct mistakes privately, building pronunciation precision before mosque prayers or family gatherings. The Canadian Quran Academy's Tajweed course for kids in Canada addresses the specific confidence barriers children face when reciting publicly—fear of making mistakes in front of parents, siblings, or community members.

Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
