The Canadian Quran Academy’s Islamic studies classes in Surrey focus on five areas: Tafsir comprehension for Quranic interpretation, Fiqh knowledge for understanding Islamic legal rulings, Hadith literacy for authenticating prophetic traditions, Seerah understanding for learning the Prophet’s biography, and Aqeedah clarity for grasping correct Islamic creed. Students study classical texts, contemporary scholarship, and practical applications relevant to Muslim life in Canada.
Lessons include Quranic exegesis methods (Tafsir bil-Ma’thur and Tafsir bir-Ra’y), the four Sunni schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, Hanbali), Hadith classification (Sahih, Hasan, Da’if), and creed distinctions between Ash’ari, Maturidi, and Athari positions. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors teach Islamic knowledge systematically—students learn why scholars disagree on certain rulings and how to navigate differing opinions respectfully within Sunni orthodoxy.
The Canadian Quran Academy’s curriculum separates Tafsir, Fiqh, Hadith, Seerah, and Aqeedah into progressive modules. Each discipline builds foundational literacy before advancing to complex scholarly debates.
Students study Quranic exegesis verse by verse—understanding historical context (Asbāb al-Nuzūl), linguistic analysis, legal derivations, and theological implications. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Islamic studies classes in Surrey teach how classical commentators like Ibn Kathir, al-Tabari, and al-Qurtubi interpreted verses differently based on linguistic evidence, Hadith reports, and scholarly methodology. Students learn why context determines meaning—not isolated verse quotations.
Lessons cover the five pillars in depth, halal/haram distinctions, family law (marriage, divorce, inheritance), financial transactions (riba, contracts, zakat calculation), and contemporary issues like mortgages and workplace accommodations. The Canadian Quran Academy’s tutors explain how the four madhahib differ on specific rulings and why following one school consistently prevents cherry-picking convenient opinions. Surrey students learn Islamic law as a coherent system, not isolated fatwas.
Students learn Hadith terminology—Sahih (authentic), Hasan (good), Da’if (weak), Mawdu’ (fabricated)—and the science of narration chains (Isnad). The Canadian Quran Academy’s Islamic studies classes in Surrey teach how scholars like Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, and Tirmidhi authenticated reports, why certain Hadiths appear in some collections but not others, and how to verify claims circulating on social media against classical Hadith scholarship.
Lessons trace the Prophet Muhammad’s biography chronologically—Makkan persecution, Hijrah to Madinah, treaty negotiations, military campaigns, and the establishment of Islamic governance. The Canadian Quran Academy’s Seerah curriculum connects prophetic actions to Quranic revelations, showing how the Prophet’s life illustrates Islamic principles in practice. Students learn why historical context matters when applying Seerah lessons to contemporary situations in multicultural Canada.
Outcomes
Adults finish the program reading Tafsir commentaries in English or Arabic—understanding how classical scholars derived meanings from linguistic roots, grammatical structures, and cross-referenced verses. The Canadian Quran Academy's Tafsir training teaches students to ask: "What was the historical context? How did early Muslims understand this? What did the Prophet say about it?" Context prevents misinterpretation. Most errors come from reading verses in isolation.
Students apply Fiqh principles to real situations—calculating zakat on investments, determining prayer times in northern latitudes, understanding mortgage alternatives, and navigating workplace conflicts during Ramadan. The Canadian Quran Academy's Islamic studies classes in Surrey teach Islamic law as practical guidance, not abstract theory. Students learn when rulings allow flexibility (darura, maslaha) and when they don't. That distinction matters for Canadian Muslims balancing faith and citizenship.
Students verify Hadith authenticity using classical Hadith collections—checking narration chains, cross-referencing multiple reports, and identifying fabricated traditions. The Canadian Quran Academy's Hadith curriculum addresses the problem of viral Islamic content on social media: students learn to trace claims back to authenticated sources before accepting or sharing them. Verification stops misinformation. Most false claims collapse when students ask, "Which classical scholar authenticated this?”
Parents use Seerah knowledge to answer children's questions about the Prophet's life, explain why Muslims fast during Ramadan, and contextualize Islamic practices within historical narratives. The Canadian Quran Academy's Islamic studies classes in Surrey equip Surrey families to teach Islamic history accurately—avoiding sanitized versions that skip difficult moments or exaggerated accounts that misrepresent historical facts. Children deserve honest, age-appropriate Islamic education.
Students learn core Sunni beliefs—Tawhid (Oneness of Allah), prophethood, angels, divine decree, and the afterlife—distinguishing orthodox positions from deviant sects. The Canadian Quran Academy's Aqeedah lessons address theological questions Surrey Muslims encounter in interfaith dialogues: Do Muslims and Christians worship the same God? What is the Islamic view of predestination? How does Islamic theology differ from philosophical deism? Clarity prevents confusion.
Students lead study circles, answer community questions, and engage in interfaith dialogues with confidence rooted in classical Islamic scholarship. The Canadian Quran Academy's Islamic studies classes in Surrey prepare Muslims for public representation—students learn to explain Islamic positions clearly, acknowledge scholarly disagreements honestly, and avoid speaking beyond their knowledge. Humility accompanies learning. Confidence without arrogance.

Alhumdulilah my son 7yr old loves his Quran classes. Sheikh Nour Eddin Mohmoud is very interactive and makes it very interesting for my son. MashaAllah my son has progressed in his Tajweed learning, applying and memorizing. After so many teachers finally found Sheikh Nour who understands and communicate with parents and listens as to what exactly one is looking for their child. I really recommend this institute and sheikh Nour . InshaAllah I want my other son to start with Sheikh Nour as well. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to get their kids to learn online.
Alhamdulillah this is a great place to learn Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic. I took these three classes and gained a lot. They teach through zoom in one on one sessions where you decide the time and day. I used whatsapp as the communication and the coordinators were really responsive. For Quran, we would read the arabic together and then learn the tafsir. After that I would memorize the surah or a portion for the next class. For Arabic, it was a focus on vocabulary and conjugations of verbs. For Islamic studies you went through a text together. The teachers are really nice and you can ask anything. I found it enjoyable learning about a different culture as I was raised in America. Give it a try!
Real transformations from students who mastered the Quran with our courses
I took a course at Shaykhi Academy, and my name is Hamza Osama from England. During my time there, I learned the Arabic alphabet and Tajweed rules. I have also successfully memorized approximately two Juz of the Quran. My teacher was the best, and I feel I benefited a lot from him. I would advise anyone who wants to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed rules, or the Quran to join Shaykhi Academy.
I’m Yahia Sarhan, I’m 15 years old and I’m from Canada. I’ve been a student at Shaykhi Academy since 2019, so about three or four years now. It’s been a great learning opportunity for me and I’ve learned a lot about Islamic studies, the Quran, and Arabic reading. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who’s trying to learn.
