“For indeed, with hardship will be ease. Indeed, with hardship will be ease.” (Surah Ash-Sharh 94:5-6)

“Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'” (Surah Az-Zumar 39:53)

إِن يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّهُ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ خَيْرًا يُؤْتِكُمْ خَيْرًا مِّمَّآ أُخِذَ مِنكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ

“If Allah knows any good in your hearts, He will give you something better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you.” (Surah Al-Anfal 8:70)

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ

“As for those who believed and did good, their Lord will admit them into His mercy.” (Surah Al-Jathiyah 45:30)

كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۖ أَنَّهُۥ مَنْ عَمِلَ مِنكُمْ سُوٓءًۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةٍۢ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

“Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself — indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Surah Al-An’am 6:54)

The condition here is specific: repentance plus correcting your actions, not repentance alone.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلتَّوَّٰبِينَ وَيُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ

“Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:222)

وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

“And Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.” (Surah Al-Anfal 8:33)

وَمَآ أَصَـٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍۢ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَن كَثِيرٍۢ

“Whatever affliction befalls you is because of what your own hands have committed. And He pardons much.” (Surah Ash-Shura 42:30)

وَرَحْمَتِى وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍۢ

“But My mercy encompasses all things.” (Surah Al-A’raf 7:156)

“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:153)

This verse pairs sabr with salah specifically — not with any other action — which is why scholars point to it as the model response to hardship.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوَٰتٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَرَحْمَةٌۭ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُهْتَدُونَ

“Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the rightly guided.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:157)

إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ

“Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without limit.” (Surah Az-Zumar 39:10)

Most rewards described in the Quran come with some description of measure. This one is a specific exception — it’s stated as having no limit at all.

مَّسَّتْهُمُ ٱلْبَأْسَآءُ وَٱلضَّرَّآءُ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ مَتَىٰ نَصْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ نَصْرَ ٱللَّهِ قَرِيبٌۭ

“They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until even the messenger and those who believed with him said, ‘When is the help of Allah?’ Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:214)

وَٱصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

“And be patient! Certainly Allah does not discount the reward of the good-doers.” (Surah Hud 11:115)

يَـٰبُنَىَّ أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَٱنْهَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَكَ

“O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you.” (Surah Luqman 31:17)

This is Luqman the Wise advising his son — one of the few places in the Quran where guidance is framed as a father speaking directly to his child.

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ ﴿٧﴾ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب ﴿٨﴾

“So when you have finished your duties, then stand up for worship. And to your Lord direct your longing.” (Surah Ash-Sharh 94:7-8)

“And despair not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people.” (Surah Yusuf 12:87)

This is Prophet Ya’qub speaking to his sons, still holding onto hope for Yusuf’s return years after losing him — the context is what makes this verse land differently than a general statement about hope.

لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ۖ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِى لَشَدِيدٌۭ

“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you in favor; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.” (Surah Ibrahim 14:7)

This verse teaches that sincere gratitude brings Allah’s blessings and increase.

وَمَا تَوْفِيقِىٓ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

“And my success is not but through Allah. Upon Him I have relied, and to Him I return.” (Surah Hud 11:88)

A reminder that every success comes only through Allah’s guidance and support. 

وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُۥٓ

“And whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him.” (Surah At-Talaq 65:3)

Whoever places complete trust in Allah will always find Him sufficient. 

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَـٰلِغُ أَمْرِهِۦ ۚ قَدْ جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدْرًۭا

“Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a decreed extent.” (Surah At-Talaq 65:3)

Nothing can prevent Allah’s plan, as everything happens according to His perfect decree. 

سَيَجْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ بَعْدَ عُسْرٍۢ يُسْرًۭا

“Allah will bring about, after hardship, ease.” (Surah At-Talaq 65:7)

This verse reassures believers that hardship is always followed by relief. 

وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍۢ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ

“And whatever good you put forward for yourselves, you will find it with Allah.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:110)

Every good deed is preserved by Allah and will be rewarded in the Hereafter. 

فَٱذْكُرُونِى أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ لِى وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ

“So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:152)
